Eric and Lara traveled to Euorpe in September 2023 to end a fun and busy year of 40th birthday celebrations. First stop... Paris!
We started our trip in Paris for 2 nights and 3 days of exploring. It was the first time to the 'City of Lights' for both of us. We worked our jetlag (and croissant calories) off by walking everywhere. We were able to see many sights including the water lillies installations at the L'orangerie museum, Notre Dame under construction, Saint Chappelle stained glass, the Eiffle Tower sparkling at night, a pinic in a park with cheeses and meats, a kiss on the 'love lock' bridge and throwing our key in the seine river, le Bon Marche and Cafe de Flore.
From there, we visited Greece: Crete, Paros and Athens.
While on Crete, we went wakesurfing in the ocean and saw some historic pirate caves and WWII sites. Our resort ferried guests between restuarants by boat.
We traveled between Crete and Paros on a high-speed ferry and were able to see Santorini and other islands in the Cyclades from a distance. Our favorite location was Paros! We rented a car and explored all of the small beaches and restaurants and Lara pet all the cats. We took a day-trip to Antiparos and swam in caves and the most blue, clean water you've ever seen. One of the highlights was a visit to Kalogeros beach where we made natural mud masks from volcanic clay- Our skin never felt more soft after washing it off in the salty ocean!
From there, we flew to Athens and had barely 24 hours to see the Acropolis museum and Acropolis and Pantheon itself before flying home. Thank you to both sents of grandparents and our au pair, Paula, for making the trip possible.
